Psalm 71: A Life That Doesn't Quit
A Lifelong Walk with God
Psalm 71 gives voice to someone who's followed God through decades of real life—youth, trials, aging, weakness—and still worships. He doesn’t just cry out in crises; he’s built a habit of leaning on God daily. As his strength fades, he doesn’t ask to be done—he asks to be useful.
Key Themes in This Psalm
Dependence on God is lifelong—not just for emergencies but as a daily practice.
Aging does not mean coasting—the psalmist still longs to teach and pass on the faith.
Praise comes before deliverance—not just after God answers.
Hope is rooted in memory—he looks back at God’s faithfulness to move forward with confidence.
"You will revive me again... You will increase my greatness and comfort me again." (Psalm 71:20-21) "I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more." (Psalm 71:14)
Reflect & Respond
Where have you seen God’s faithfulness in your life?
How might your past experience be part of someone else's future hope?
What does it look like to keep showing up—with praise, purpose, and grit—as you age?
Are you making time to remember what God has done, or are today’s challenges overshadowing His past goodness?

Summer in the Psalms – Week 1: Psalm 1
Psalm 1 gives us a clear contrast: two paths, two outcomes. One is rooted in God’s Word, growing strong like a tree. The other is weightless—blown around like chaff, disconnected from life.
The blessed life isn’t about circumstances. It’s about being deeply rooted in God’s truth—delighting in His Word and letting it shape your heart. That kind of man lasts. He’s fruitful. He weathers storms.
The other way? It starts subtle: listening to bad advice, then standing with compromise, then finally sitting comfortably in cynicism. It’s a slow drift—but it ends in ruin.
Reflect on this:
Are you drawing from God’s Word regularly—or running dry?
What’s forming your thoughts—Scripture, or the stream of culture?
Where are you going for nourishment and strength?
Which path are your steps on right now?
Psalm 1 ends with this: “The Lord knows the way of the righteous.” You’re not alone. Stay rooted, stay watchful, stay fed.
